|Facebook delegation to visit Pakistan|
Government has already banned many pages and has warned all the admins of those pages to quit posting things that are in anyway against Prime Minister or his family.
About today, the Interior Ministry Spokesman stated that Facebook has agreed to send its delegate to address reservations of the government concerning blasphemous content.
He further added that Facebook has nominated a focal person to continually stay in contact with PTA and that the government has received a written reply from the Facebook administration stating that they are fully aware of the issue and are ready to solve it completely with consultation and dialogue.
He also suggested to have broad consultations on the issue of blasphemy as it has now become one of the most critical issue of the world.
“Social media sites should cooperate to prevent uploading of any blasphemous content. Ridiculing a religion in the name of freedom of expression should not be allowed,”
Adding to it, he said that the intelligence agencies have started to identify elements involved and that eleven people, who commented on the blasphemous sites have been identified and are being investigated.
“Concerned authorities are also in contact with Interpol to interrogate some people abroad”
The minister said they will do everything to remove blasphemous material from Facebook and other social media websites
