Zuckerberg, like all of us, chose Facebook platform to let everyone know about his big news that he and his wife Priscilla Chan are expecting a second child, a baby girl.
He broke the news to the world by posting,
"Priscilla and I are happy to share we're expecting another baby girl!
After our difficult experience having Max, we weren't sure what to expect or whether we'd be able to have another child. When Priscilla and I first found out she was pregnant again, our first hope was that the child would be healthy. My next hope was that it would be a girl. I cannot think of a greater gift than having a sister and I'm so happy Max and our new child will have each other.
I grew up with three sisters and they taught me to learn from smart, strong women. They weren't just my sisters but some of my best friends. They've gone on to write books, excel at performance, music, sports, cooking and their careers. They showed me how to compete and still laugh together afterwards.Priscilla grew up with two sisters and they taught her the importance of family, caring for others and hard work. They supported each other as first generation college students and in their careers in medicine and business. They have so many inside jokes -- the kind only siblings can understand.
We are all better people because of the strong women in our lives -- sisters, mothers and friends. We can't wait to welcome our new little one and do our best to raise another strong woman."
The “difficult experience” Zuckerberg mentions is one he has talked openly about in the past about Priscilla suffering three miscarriages before having their daughter Max in 2015. Zuckerberg has spoken publicly about the grief and isolation that comes with losing a child in the womb.
In his announcement, Zuckerberg celebrated that his daughter would soon be an older sister to his little girl. Furthermore, he also talked about his and Priscilla's sisters and how they taught them the importance of family and love and helped them in learning through life.
Zuckerberg in September 216, launched and announced a biotech initiative called Chan Zuckerberg Science, with the goal of investing $3 billion over the next decade to cure diseases after their daughter Max was born in December 2015 and talk about donating 99% percent of their Facebook shares to an L.L.C. that will focus its efforts on “promoting equality” and “advancing human potential.”
This also raises the hope of doing something great again after his second child too.
In the end, I want to send my heartfelt wishes to Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla for their second child.
