Google changes ad policy again to root out hateful videos on YouTube

Many famous companies were worried that Google automated systems are placing ads on offensive YouTube videos and this lead most of them to began pulling their advertisements from YouTube. Two weeks later, Google has finally come up with a satisfying answer for all the brands and tried yet again to halt the crisis using "Artificial Intelligence".

Alphabet Inc.'s main division is launching a new system that enables firms to verify ad quality standards on its video service.

A huge number of significant advertisers, approximately 250, ended spending on YouTube and Google's digital ad network after advertisements were highlighted running nearby hate speech videos. Google guaranteed new controls for advertisers initially, that was heavily neglected to hinder the boycott. This caused a boiling debate in digital advertising over quality assurance, or "brand safety," norms online.

Google has since enhanced its capacity to hail offending videos and instantly debilitate advertisements, Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler disclosed to Bloomberg News in a recent interview. Johnson and Johnson, one of biggest advertisers to yank spending, said it is turning around its position in most significant markets.

A company spokesperson said that the system will also incorporate input from third-party measurement and brand safety firms like Integral Ad Science and ComScore.

"We are working with companies that are [Media Rating Council]-accredited for ad verification on this initiative and will begin integrating these technologies shortly."

The organization is a pioneer in the field and has utilized machine learning in, an effective kind of AI, to enhance its products and services, including video suggestion on YouTube and advertisement serving.

Automatically classifying entire videos, then flagging and filtering content is a more difficult, expensive research endeavor -- one that Google hasn't focused on much, until now.
